Our Wrapsody baby carriers are made with close attention to quality, sustainability, and ethical manufacturing. Our focus is on choosing fabrics that make baby wraps that are easy to use, lightweight and unencumbering, and with the greatest comfort and huggability for parent and baby.
Batik: Our Breeze and Stretch-Hybrid baby carriers
Our artisan Bali wraps are made from 100% cotton fabrics that are hand-dyed or hand-batiked by a family-owned company under fair trade conditions. You can learn more about the just-right stretch of the cotton jersey of our Stretch-Hybrid or the supportive huggability of the woven bottomweight cotton gauze our Breeze wraps use on the product pages. However, if you want to learn more about the super-cool art of hand-dyeing or hand-batiking our wraps undergo for their vibrant beauty, click here for photos and explanations! (And see if you can spot our colorways and hair scarves in use by the employees!)
Our head wraps and baby hats are also made in Bali — we use recycled rayon remnants from our manufacturers’ other projects for our assorted rayon hair scarves. Our cotton hair scarves, as often as possible, as well as the fabric bags our baby wraps are packaged in, are created from the remnants of our Wrapsody wraps.
All of the dyes from the manufacturing process meet stringent ISO-9001 standards, certified to be safe for the environment, for you, and most importantly, for your baby!

Creating Our Unique Designs
Kristi frequently posts about her design work on the blog. Each wrap is designed with careful attention to color, style, aesthetic, how it will look wrapped on the body, and most importantly, how new mothers will feel wearing our special colorways.
Some of our wraps are designed by customers, some by our employees, and others by friends of the Gypsy Mama or in colorway contests. Most are designed by the Gypsy Mama herself, inspired by nature, fashion trends, or sometimes realizing there are gaps to fill for moms and dads with certain types of coloring or styles. Some wraps start as an idea, like “Let’s do a wrap to celebrate birth!” “You should make a wrap to honor your sister!”

Our WrapDuO Water and Sport Carrier
Our WrapDuo, previously called the “Water Wrap,” has been manufactured from the same high-quality polyester sports knit since 2005. Not only is the fabric made from 55% reclaimed, recycled fibers, but it is milled right in New England, USA.
From the mill, our fabric is trucked by a local shipping company to our sewing facility, which is right in Massachussetts and owned by a single dad. He finishes the edges with a comfortable, stretchy overlock stitch that doesn’t retain water as a hem would.
The last step before being packaged in-house is to transport the wraps to a very local (within a mile of our home and shop!) facility that applies our heat transferred labels. They design the labels describing the use and care of the wraps as well as the warning labels required by new government standards.
At this point, Kristi, Wrapsody’s mastermind, actually just scoots over in her minivan and brings the boxes of labeled wraps back to our Wrapsody barn, where they are folded into the eco-friendly final packaging.
