Which wrap should I buy?
We have an extensive article outlining the differences between our baby carriers here.
What do the fabrics feel like?
Breeze wraps are a woven cotton gauze with a light, nubby texture. When you first receive your wrap, it may feel a bit stiff, as it has been line-dried in the sun, whereas most fabrics you purchase are treated with softeners and starches. Consider a pair of jeans or a towel dried in the drier vs. a pair of jeans dried on the line on a hot, sunny day — the jeans or towel will feel much stiffer off the line than out of the drier. However, like all line-dried items, our wraps will soften with use, retaining their nubby texture but becoming floppier.
Stretch-Hybrid wraps are a cotton jersey, and right out of the package they feel soft and silky, like a favorite t-shirt. They are also line-dried in the sun, but because they are knit rather than woven, the fabric does not become as stiff when dried.
Wrap DuO (Water Wrap) fabrics are a polyester sports-knit. It is a stretchy-t-shirt like fabric but it feels like a lycra swimsuit — silky, slinky, and soft. It doubles beautifully as a “little black dress” style wrap for carrying your baby at weddings, dinners, etc.
What size wrap should I order?
To determine your wrap size, please check out our sizing charts. If you are in doubt of which size to order, it is always a safe bet to order the larger size baby carrier.
Should I order a different size if I want to share it with my partner?
Our Stretch-Hybrid Wraps are one size fits all. A Stretch-Hybrid wrap will easily fit both you and a partner. Our Water Wraps come in two sizes — standard and extra-long. You can refer to our sizing chart for more information.
Our Breeze wraps, like most non-stretch woven wraps, come in multiple sizes. There are many ways to use our baby carriers. Many dads who carry baby occasionally are very happy using the “Basic X” position, in which case, they can use a wrap one size smaller. The same is true for some moms — they may be happy with only the “Basic X” position. In that case, you can usually order one size smaller than the largest adult would normally wear. Otherwise, it is best to order the wrap that will fit the larger user — the wrap is so lightweight that any extra will wrap weightless around the waist and tuck out of the way.
What are the dimensions of your wraps?
Breeze: Approximately 24 inches wide. One end is sewn into a self-storing pocket. The length depends on the size you purchase; see our sizing chart for more details.
Stretch-Hybrid: Approximately 30 inches wide and approximately 5.49m with tapered ends.
Wrap Duo (Water Wrap): Approximately 20 inches wide with tapered ends. The length depends on the size you purchase; see our sizing chart for more details.
Do your wraps/dyes meet safety standards?
Yes! Wrapsody baby carriers are in compliance with the CPSIA act of 2008 and all other applicable standards/acts/bans. In addition, the dyes used in our wraps are ISO-9001 certified and free of heavy metals and similar toxins. We take the safety of both our children and yours very seriously, and we manufacture only products we will use ourselves with our babies.
Is the photo on your website showing the accurate color?
We do our best to represent Wrapsody carriers accurately in our photographs. However, like many richly colored textiles, it can be difficult to capture the color accurately. In addition, the wraps may look different in different lights. Thirdly, each item is dyed by hand and requires sunshine to help set the wraps, so there are minor variations in coloring and design from batch to batch, and even sometimes within each batch.
As much as possible, the swatch photos represent the true color of the wrap. Please be aware that different monitors will show colors differently.
Which color wrap should I purchase for my husband/as a gift/etc?
We have just launched a new cart, but will soon be re-adding the features that will help you shop by color, by design, and even by your color season.
Will your wraps be supportive for my toddler?
Yes! The Gypsy Mama team has found Wrapsody baby carriers exceptionally comfortable for carrying children through preschool age. The Breeze and the Stretch-Hybrid wraps are both exceptionally supportive, but our non-stretch woven Breeze wrap will offer the most support for older children, whereas the Stretch-Hybrid wrap may have to be snugged up once or twice after you settle your older child in. Can I use your Stretch-Hybrid wrap for back carries?
Yes! Not only do we, personally, use our Stretch-Hybrid wraps for back carries, we have spoken to many educators around the world who agree that our Stretch-Hybrid wraps are very different than the standard stretch wraps on the market. For more information, click here.
