I began showering with each of my children as soon as their umbilical stumps fell off. I realized right away that my showers were harried times – I would rush through my routine, wanting to be ready in case baby woke. Alternatively, I’d strap a fussy baby into the bouncer beside the tub to change my clothes and wash projectile spit-up out of my hair. When I brought them into the shower with me, however, we were both more relaxed – and often, they’d settle nicely afterward into a nap so I could even get a few minutes to myself!
